Checklist new student
What can you do before starting your studies?
There is a lot going on during the first weeks at the start of the semester. Therefore, it can be good to have certain issues in order even before the study starts.
Payment of semester fee
Everyone must have paid the semester fee before they can register as a student and receive student rights. Invoice for semester fee can be found on StudentWeb. Please note that it is not sent by post or e-mail.
To log in to StudentWeb, you use the same login as you did when you applied for the program on Søknadsweb. You can also order a new password that is sent to the same e-mail address that you registered when you applied for admission to the program.
NOTE! If you are not a Norwegian applicant, and thus do not have a Norwegian personal identity number, you must contact the study administration to be able to register.
All students must pay a semester fee to SSO (Studentsamskipnaden) and a material fee to SUAS. Full-time students pay NOK 700 and part-time students pay NOK 550 per semester. The payment deadline for the autumn semester is 1 September and 1 February for the spring semester.
Student registration
Once you have paid the semester fee and your payment is registered after a few days, you can register as a student. Registration is done on the student web. Please note that it may take a couple of days before we receive your payment at the bank, and the registration can be completed.
Only when you have registered as a student, you can create an IT account, get a student certificate, key card, and get a loan and scholarship paid out from Lånekassen.
Canvas
You will receive your username and password by e-mail when you have signed up for teaching on the student web. If you have not received this, you must contact your coordinator at the college. Login: Log in to Canvas
Key card
After you have paid and the payment has been registered, you will be given a key card. The student ID app can be used as documentation. New students receive key cards in the front office (at the main entrance). If you do not have the opportunity to come to school to have the card made, you can order a key card via the study administration's e-mail: oahppohalddahus@samas.no. Then you send name and picture to the mentioned e-mail address. The key card is used as a library card at the university college's library and for access to Diehtosiida.
Loans and scholarships
You must have completed your semester registration before Lånekassen processes your application. You do this in the student web. Loans and scholarships are only paid out after you have paid the semester fee and been registered as a student. A message is sent automatically from Sámi University of Applied Sciences (SUAS) to Lånekassen when everything is in order. More information about loans and scholarships as well as application forms can be found on Lånekassen's website.
Approval and entry
If you have previously completed courses and / or subjects that you think may be suitable as part of the education you plan to complete at Sami University College, then you have the opportunity to apply to have this incorporated and approved as part of the education you complete at SUAS. If you have completed courses and / or subjects that are similar to compulsory parts of the study you are completing at Sami University College, you have the opportunity to apply for exemption from these parts of the study. It is also possible to apply for completed courses / subjects approved as support subjects. You also have the opportunity to apply for an exemption on the basis of prior learning.
Police certificate
In accordance with the regulations on admission to higher education, Chapter 6, students who come into contact with kindergarten children and students or others as part of their practical studies are required to submit a police certificate.

Applicants who are promised a place in the said educations, and who do not have a comment on the police certificate that is relevant for admission to the current study, must submit a police certificate to the educational institution no later than at the established start of studies.
Applicants who are promised a place in the said educations less than fourteen (14) days before the start of studies, possibly after the start of studies, must submit the police certificate no later than three (3) weeks after the commitment to study places has been given.
